CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Semifinals Roundup

Hooray, it's the semifinals! We're 3 days away from the big finish, so let's get right to the recaps:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Quarterfinals Roundup

Hooray, it's the quarterfinals! We're 7 days away from the big finish, so let's get right to the recaps:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Canada/USA/Mexico III

Two down, one to go. Once the First Stage games are complete, we can see them off with a hearty, "it was real, it was fun, but it wasn't real fun." Well, it's like "gross" foods that are good for you otherwise. Let's slurp our medicine and look forward to the goodness and light that is the Second Stage:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Canada/USA/Mexico II

The problem with this tournament is that while the First Stage games were reasonably interesting and/or exciting in the 2006 World Cup, the real action begins in the Second Stage of the Copa Oro, and therefore I am disinclined to sit through all 90 minutes at normal speed. Apparently, this is the attitude of some of the teams who are actually playing in the tournament, as we shall see anon:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Group C Kickoff

OK, there is just wayyyy too much soccer going on right now. I'm not going to win any awards for my coverage of this tournament, but then again, the Copa Oro seems to be of marginal interest if the usual shows on Univision aren't giving Mexico the royal treatment. Seriously, no hot pants, no soccer ball decorations on the set of Despierta America... where is the love? Let's go live to the videotape:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Group B Kickoff

The 2007 Copa Oro continues apace. As per usual, since the Univision family of TV stations is covering this event pretty much exclusively down here, the Spanish titles will persist throughout. Muy bien. Let's go live to the videotape:

CONCACAF Gold Cup 2007: Group A Kickoff

Guess what, sports fans? Just then you thought that Team USA and their regional pals weren't going to be seen or heard from again until the 2010 World Cup, CONCACAF kicked off the 2007 Gold Cup. Or really, as it shall be referred to going forward, Copa Oro. All of the coverage is exclusively on the Univision family of TV stations. I can dig it. Let's go live to the videotape:
