Softball: Canada at USA - Photos

When we heard that softball had been dropped from the Olympic Games after 2008, and learned that Team USA was doing a cross-country "Bound 4 Beijing" tour, we wanted to be supportive. I ordered tickets for the USA/Canada game on June 7. Might as well have a fun weekend in Oklahoma City with the added benefit of supporting USA athletics.

Interesting and Notable Scrapbook Layouts III

More layouts that inspired me - or inspired me to comment on them, anyway:

MLS: Colorado Rapids at Chicago Fire - Photos

OK, I'm well over a week late with these, but I was away from my computer until a few short days ago, and worse, my brother's camera takes non-standard JPG photos. Yes, JPG is supposedly a standard file format, but his are weird somehow. It took me until tonight to re-do them using all of my Linux imaging software. By now, nobody gives a rip about the game, as if they did on July 1.

MLS: FC Dallas at Houston Dynamo - Photos

Warning: Lonnnnnnng entry. Sorry!

Number one question asked between the hours of 3:00pm and 7:00pm yesterday: "What's that smell?" Number one answer: "Houston." A bunch of the FCD faithful chartered a bus and made the trek southward. I'm pretty trashed after an early morning into a late night, so I'm going to keep the observational stuff to a minimum and get right to the photos, as there are several. Let's get to it, then:

On Vacation: Eavesdropping at Gander Mountain

Flock of Seagulls image by Ethan Johnson

We just got back from a whirlwind vacation trip to Milwaukee and Chicago. During the first leg of the Wisconsin visit, I ran into Gander Mountain to check out plain t-shirts. I'm not into hunting or fishing, but Gander Mountain is great for good clothing, cheap. I hit the clearance rack and got two green t-shirts for under $7 USD apiece. Unfortunately, I managed to grab the two items that did NOT have price tags on them, never mind that everything on the rack was the same price. One of the clerks was a stickler for SKU numbers and insisted on scrolling through the computerized inventory screens until she found them. Meanwhile, I was shunted off to the side while the cashier rang up the other people in line.

Chateau Aux Arc Winery Podcast

by Ethan Johnson
August 3, 2006

Note: The Vision Thing is finally being laid to rest. As this podcast continues to draw significant interest from the wine-loving community, I have moved it here and will ask that the winery update its website accordingly. This was back when I was using an alias instead of my real name when I was blogging. How silly in retrospect, huh? Also, the wine shipping laws have changed in the US since this interview. This originally "aired" on March 9, 2005.
