Bitch Grenache 2007

It's Labor Day here in these States United. What better wine to kick back with than:

Producer (Vineyard): R Wines
Varietal (Grape type): Grenache
Vintage (Year): 2007
Country: Australia
Color: Red
Cost: Inexpensive ($10 USD)

Teh booze

Swirl and Sniff: The color is scarlet. Once again, heavy on the alcohol fumes, but over time I picked up - hey! More alcohol. Sheesh.

Taste: Very smooth. Blueberries and peppercorns over time. Syrupy finish.

Pairing: I drank this with pork chops in creamy mushroom sauce. This was decidedly a gamble. The pork made the wine flare up angrily. It was pretty good as a stand-alone drink.

Rating: When it comes to this wine, I would (and you may):

  • Buy three or more bottles for regular enjoyment
  • Buy a bottle or two for occasional enjoyment
  • Ask for when dining out or at a party
  • Settle for if your preferred wine is not available
  • Politely decline and never drink again, ever

Despite the too clever name and repetitive back label copy, this was "not bad" and would be better served as a stand-alone wine or paired with say, chicken. If you see it around, try it. I'm disinclined to stock up, though. Might be a good conversation piece at your next party.

If you do give this a try, please let me know how your experience compared with mine. Thanks! <EM>

We had it with pizza and liked it. Of course, we'd already had about 5 or 6 other wine tastings before we had this so your mileage may vary.

I had heard of BITCH and then decided to pick up a bottle at my local Whole Foods. I LOVE IT. I've been everywhere but California tasting wines, I'm no expert but I really do love this wine. It is very heavy in alchohol and it does come through quite a bit on the wine but the ending isn't one that takes your breath away and makes you want to lose your stomach. Def. a must have for entertaining. Great conversation piece, great gift, and a great wine.
